The Helmeringhausen Hotel in the tiny hamlet of Helmeringhausen in the southern region of Namibia, is the ideal stopover between the Fish River Canyon and Sesriem or Sossusvlei. Steeped in German colonial history, Helmeringhausen was founded by Hubert Hester, a member of the German Colonial Troops (or Schutztruppe).

Nowadays the Hotel and Guestfarm are in the hands of Björn and Katja Basler, an excellent team. In 2011 Katja received a “Best Hotelier”-award, a testimony to the high standards set at the Helmeringhausen Hotel.
